背景
2015年9月4日，SM Entertainment在Red Velvet官方Instagram放上第一系列回归照并宣布Red Velvet将带着首张正规专辑《The Red》于9月9日回归歌坛，主打歌为《Dumb Dumb》，并每日在官方Instagram上传一则《Dumb Dumb》的预告片[2]。
此专辑歌曲由拥有中毒性的hook以及富有动感的贝斯旋律而令人印象深刻的Up tempo POP舞蹈曲风组成。《The Red》专辑收录了拥有部分队名的"red"色彩的音乐共十首歌曲，专辑中Red Velvet以鲜明的色彩感展现独特的魅力，给人以视觉享受，而且刺激想像的感性的专辑封面就像是一部奇妙的电影，Red Velvet将展现的全新面貌。主打歌《Dumb Dumb》是首中毒性极强的POP舞曲，凭借哼唱和动感十足的快节奏，让人印象深刻。
SM Entertainment宣布Red Velvet将会以“五放满足”为主题于9月7日开始在Never V app现场直播，而节目将定为五集。从4日至8日都发行了总共五则预告片，于8日韩国时间晚上10时发行《Dumb Dumb》MV。
9月9日，发行首张正规专辑《The Red》并公开主打歌《Dumb Dumb》的音源，当天在美国Billboard排行榜为第一，韩国GAON排行榜第一[3]。也再次在美国Billboard上登顶美国和全球9月份全多人观看MV第一名[4]。而且也于美国Billboard公开2015年十大最佳KPOP专辑中，凭首张正规专辑《The Red》排行第7名[5]。
